Dr. Abtin Khosravi Celebrates His 2,000th Robotic Case at Providence St. Joseph

Congratulations to Dr. Abtin Khosravi, general surgeon and Medical Director of Robotic Surgery, on achieving his 2,000th da Vinci robotic procedure. With a total of 12,502 lifetime cases, Providence St. Joseph has completed the third most robotic cases in the entire Providence health system. Dr. Khosravi’s achievement represents the most robotic da Vinci cases at Providence St. Joseph.

“It’s unreal to cross the 2,000th robotic case at this point in my career,” said Dr. Khosravi. “While this may be an individual accomplishment, it is also important to recognize the team at Providence that enabled it. Achieving this mark involves a coordinated commitment to robotic surgery by hospital leadership, foundation support and the entire OR staff.”

Dr. Khosravi has reached this milestone after 6 years of practice and says, “I believe we have provided patients with the best modality of care for minimally invasive surgery. On to 10,000!”

The da Vinci surgical system allows surgeons like Dr. Khosravi to perform robotic assisted, minimally invasive surgery using an advanced set of instruments. The surgeon guides the robot through a console and the system translates his hand movements, in real time, during the procedure. The use of the da Vinci robotic system allows surgeons to navigate the instruments with enhanced capabilities, advanced precision, greater range of motion, and higher magnification.
