Nursing Leadership Announcement: Brooke Miller, MSN, RN Named Director of Surgical Services and Women’s and Children’s Services

I am thrilled to announce that Brooke Miller, MSN, RN, RNC-OB, RNC-IAP, has accepted the position of Director of Surgical Services and Women’s and Children’s Services.

Brooke brings more than 15 years of nursing experience to this role, including seven years in progressive leadership positions. She earned her Bachelor’s degree in Nursing from Seton Hall University and her Master’s degree in Nursing from California State University, Fullerton. Brooke began her nursing career at Cedars-Sinai Medical Center in the Labor and Delivery unit before joining St. Joseph Hospital in 2010. Over the next 13 years, she held key positions in Women’s & Children’s Services, including Relief Charge Nurse, Unit Based Council (UBC) Chair, and Clinical Coordinator. In 2023, Brooke accepted an interim role in Surgical Services as Operating Room Manager. Under her guidance, the OR has flourished, with significant improvements in OR access for physicians and patients, enhanced ER-to-OR hip fracture times, and streamlined processes that have boosted both caregiver engagement and patient outcomes.

Brooke has deep expertise in Women’s and Children’s Services and a proven record of success within Surgical Services. In addition, she has cultivated strong relationships in both Women’s and Children’s and Surgical Services, and throughout the hospital. Brooke’s experience uniquely positions her to lead two of our largest and most dynamic service lines. In addition, combining Surgical Services and Women’s and Children’s Services under a single nursing leader enables us to leverage the synergies between procedural areas and shared physicians, ultimately enhancing the care we provide.

Brooke lives in Fullerton with her husband and two children, Wade and Cole. Outside of work, she enjoys traveling with her family, attending sporting events (especially USC football – Fight On!), and going to country music concerts.

Brooke will be working closely with Lisa Cowan, DNP, NEA-BC, FACHE, who is retiring January 3, 2025. We are grateful for Lisa’s leadership over Women’s and Children’s Services, and I will soon be sending information on a going away party in her honor.

Please join me in congratulating Brooke on her new role as Director of Surgical Services and Women’s and Children’s Services. I have every confidence that her leadership will continue to elevate the quality of care we provide to our patients, caregivers, and physicians.

Warm regards,

Kim Hale, DNP, MBA, CNOR, NEA-BC, FACHE
