Wishing you a happy Passover

Saturday marks the start of the sacred holiday of Passover in which millions of Jewish people around the world commemorate Hebrews’ liberation. Named for the Angel of Death “passing over” the homes of Israelites, the week-long observance typically begins with a Seder dinner where traditional foods like matzah and bitter herbs are served and the story of Passover – and Israelites escape from Egypt – is read aloud.

Passover represents a belief in things unseen, a celebration of Israelites long journey to freedom, and the importance of justice and love for those who have been marginalized. It’s an opportunity to celebrate the resilience, faith, and hope within the Jewish community.

As one of the most widely celebrated Jewish holidays, more than 15 million people across the globe, and right here at St. Joseph Hospital, will celebrate. Wishing you all a Happy Passover – Chag Sameach!
